THE Story

 

Welcome to The Hungover Empire. We are traffickers of cheap as chips men’s and women’s new and (ab)used clothing, belts, bags, sunglasses, Manic Panic hair dye and make up, army boots, band merch, fishnets, alternative apparel, mallwear, vintage magazines, books, free stickers, consignment, and much, much more.


We are focused on making available badass clothing and accessories to ambassadors of popular AND unpopular culture, the music and art influenced generations of new and old. There is oldschool vintage straight out of 1970 right up to last season’s styles according to the fashion world, but according to which I do not allow dictatorship of what is in or out. Fashion according to me, is supposed to be a unique matter of opinion for everyone, not something which is declared and followed word for word like an ever-changing religion. We should be collecting and keeping the best we can find, rather than buying and throwing away the mediocre. Keeping prices low for fantastically stylish hardly used clothing is our mission, although artists and craftspeople should inquire about consigning any interesting new wares as well. The minds here are open so bring any insight or input to us if you have something to propose!


The vast majority of items have been personally handpicked by me and are in essence, of my actual style which can be defined as anywhere between eccentric business woman and goth princess to tshirt&jeans lazyass and over-the-top barstar. The main concept is taking all the hard work out of buying second hand clothing. In other words, no clothing riddled in holes, stains or just pure ugliness (well, that last one really IS a matter of opinion), as well as the ever-important fact that everything in the store is fully laundered and absolutely does not emanate any type of musty vintage store smell, so everything is pretty much like new and can be worn right out of here.


My vision for this website is to provide an outlet for small businesspeople like myself to advertise and mingle ideas, events, etc in the form of posts about themselves. Stylish, personalized listings are designed for businesses which include a link they can use in their own forms of media so people can follow news and listings and contact eachother easily. Networking is a huge part of business and it seems there is no hub for it in Winnipeg. In addition to entrepreneurs of the conventional type such as retailers and service people, any musicians, artists, photographers, filmmakers, writers, actors, models etc should inquire about using this site for their own advertising and networking purposes as well.
